Weight-loss pills containing ephedra are touted to decrease appetite. But some weight-loss pills can cause dangerous side effects, including heart attacks, seizures, strokes and sudden death. Ephedra, although banned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), can be purchased online. Herbal supplements that contain the plant-derived chemical ephedrine also are available online and can cause similar health problems.
Other weight-loss pills that do NOT contain ephedera may not be safe either. Many weight-loss pills that no longerf contain ephedera can contain a cocktail of ingredients, including vitamins, minerals, herbs, botanicals, caffeine or laxatives that may also impact somene's health in a negative way. It's too often unknown how these unknown ingredients (or unknown concentration of known ingredients) in several top selling weight-loss pills, individually or in combination, could affect individuals health. The potential risk of adverse reactions can alo increase when diet pills (weight-loss pills) are taken with other medications.
While many of the claims madd by diet pill sellers are tempting, it is important to understand that weight loss only happens when more calories are burned than consumed, and it can be very dangerous to rely on supplemental weight-loss products to be your answer to your weight-loss goals.
