When the body is continually subjected to high blood sugar levels, the body must continue to produce insulin to lower blood sugar levels.  As this continues to happen the body becomes less sensitive to the blood sugar lowering effects of insulin, creating a vicious cycle that can lead to serious disease and health complication.
