Acupuncture may help relieve pain by triggering a natural painkilling chemical called adenosine according to new research. The researchers also believe they can enhance acupuncture's effectiveness by coupling the process with a well-known cancer drug -- deoxycoformycin -- that maintains adenosine levels longer than usual. The findings are reported in the May 30, 2010 online in the journal Nature Neuroscience.
The scientific validity of traditional Chinese medicine for pain treatment of pain received scientific support in the May 2010 issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia, official journal of the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS). The study found that acupuncture increased pain thresholds by up to 50 percent.

New evidence shows that ingredients in green tea could improve bone health by promoting growth of new bones, and slowing bone destruction. The findings, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, suggest that green tea could be used as a treatment for osteoporosis. Green tea could also be used for prevention of bone loss.
