Mean daily consumption of nuts (most commonly, walnuts and almonds) was 2.4 ounces. Cholesterol levels declined with this amount of daily consumption of nuts.
In this study, nut consumption significantly improved lipid levels. Other studies suggest that nuts have a beneficial effect on the function of the lining of blood vessels and on lipid levels. Of note is that moderate nut consumption is not associated with weight gain.
